Who to contact and where to apply

Denmark's external service provider in Oceania is VFS Global. VFS Global accepts applications for residence and work permits for Denmark and captures the biometric data of the applicants from their offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane, Auckland and Suva. VFS Global then forwards the applications and biometric data to the Danish Consulate General in Sydney, who in turn forwards them to DIS or SIRI in Denmark for processing.

Please make sure you secure a time slot at VFS Global to submit your application as soon as possible, as it may be difficult to get an appointment.

 

 How to apply 

  1. Go to the website of the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration and create a case order ID, pay the processing fee and print the receiptThis fee must be paid online by credit card.

Then either

      a) Lodge the hardcopy application with all supporting documents in person to VFS Global and have your biometric data captured or

      b) Lodge your application and upload all supporting documents online and within the next 14 days go to VFS Global in person to have your biometric data captured.

Additional fees

2 additional fees are incurred when submitting an application for a residence and work permit from Australia.

  1. Pay the consular fee according to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of fees. The current consular fee must be paid online by clicking here.
  2. VFS Global’s service fee. Current fee can be found here. This fee is payable to VFS Global on the day of your appointment.

Please note: Above mentioned fees also apply in case of online lodgement, since you must still have your biometric data captured by VFS Global and forwarded to SIRI by the Danish Consulate General in Sydney.

 

 

What to bring to VFS Global

You are submitting your application in hard copy to VFS Global:

  1. Application form
  2. Your original passport as well as copies of ALL pages of your passport including the cover and all blank pages*
  3. All required supporting documents according to the checklist in the application form
  4. Receipt of payment of the consular fee for residence and work permits payable here
  5. Customers can choose to provide their own self addressed return express courier envelopes with their application, or this can be purchased at the visa application centre. For residence permit applications, two return envelopes are required.** You can also choose to collect the passport and permit at the visa application centre.

You have submitted your application and uploaded all supporting documents ONLINE and you now have to have your biometric data recorded:

  1. A printout of the confirmation e-mail from DIS or SIRI that the application was submitted successfully online
  2. Your original passport plus a copy of the data page of your passport*
  3. Receipt of payment of the consular fee for residence and work permits payable here
  4. Customers can choose to provide their own self addressed return express courier envelopes with their application, or this can be purchased at the visa application centre. For residence permit applications, two return envelopes are required.** You can also choose to collect the passport and permit at the visa application centre.

You have submitted the application by mail or via a third-party in Denmark and you only have to have your biometric data recorded:

  1. Copies of the first three pages of the application form OR a printout of the confirmation e-mail from DIS or SIRI that the application was submitted successfully online by the third-party in Denmark
  2. Your original passport plus a copy of the data page of your passport*
  3. Receipt of payment of the consular fee for residence and work permits payable here
  4. Customers can choose to provide their own self addressed return express courier envelopes with their application, or this can be purchased at the visa application centre. For residence permit applications, two return envelopes are required.** You can also choose to collect the passport and permit at the visa application centre.

*The ORIGINAL passport must be handed over to VFS Global and forwarded to the Danish Consulate General in Sydney for verification purpose and a dispensation to this requirement is NOT available.

** Customers can choose to provide their own self addressed return express platinum courier envelopes with their application, or this can be purchased at the visa application centre. For residence permit applications, two return envelopes are required. First return envelope will be used to return your original passport to you as soon as the Consulate General in Sydney has checked it (around 2 business days). The second return envelope will be used to send the decision from DIS or SIRI to you. The postage time of the passport depends on the destination (up to 7 business days).

Entering Denmark after a successful outcome

Australian and New Zealand nationals and all other nationals who are visa free must travel to Denmark with the written approval letter from DIS/SIRI only. Within 5 days of arrival in Denmark you must register with the CPR-registry in the municipality where you take up residence. Once you register a residence card will be issued and sent to your residential address in Denmark.

Nationals who require a visa in order to enter Denmark will in addition to the written approval letter from DIS/SIRI also be granted an entry visa (D-visa) for Denmark which must be issued in their passports. The Danish Consulate General in Sydney will prompt these applicants to submit their passport for the issuance of a visa. The visa allows the holder to enter Denmark and within 5 days of arrival in Denmark you must register with the CPR-registry in the municipality where you take up residence. Once you register a residence card will be issued and sent to your residential address in Denmark.
