Other important information

Check of personal information in the CPR registry

Danish Passport issuing authorities are only allowed to issue your passport according to the information listed in the Danish CPR registry (CPR). Your personal details in the CPR register will be checked and in cases of discrepancy (e.g. name change, citizenship or place of birth), it is your responsibility to contact CPR to ensure details are rectified. You can do so by contacting the municipality in which you last resided in Denmark. Issuance of your passport cannot commence before CPR has been updated.

Name change

Please note that Danish passports are issued in the name that is registered in the Danish CPR. You will not be able to apply for a new passport if there is a discrepancy in how your name is registered in the CPR. Please read more information above or find more information regarding name change on our website here.

Processing time

All passports are produced in Denmark. Thus, it takes approximately 4-6 weeks before your passport is available for collection. For passport applications lodged via the biometric passport suitcase visit processing time can however be 6 to 8 weeks. Note: Unexpected circumstances may delay the processing time.

Your current passport must be cancelled before the new passport can be handed over. If you didn’t hand over your current passport at the time of application, please remember to bring it in for cancellation when collecting the new passport. Always check with the local authorities whether visas and/or residence permits can be transferred to a new passport.
