Experience of former interns

Maria Banke, MSc International Business and Politics at Copenhagen Business School, Economic Diplomacy Intern 2024.

Whether you’re interested in politics or business, you will definitely gain a lot of new insights and professional experience working at the Danish Council in Sydney. For me, it’s been the perfect fit because I got to work politically while supporting Danish businesses, which aligns very closely with my interests and educational background. It has been very interesting to work on different projects, engage with stakeholders, and be a part of public diplomacy activities such as delegations, conferences, and events. This enabled me to gain insights into various sectors, all of which have a strong focus on supporting the green transition. Thanks to the skilled and helpful team, I have gained new, valuable insights and skills that will be very useful for my “toolbox” moving forward.

I also really loved living in Sydney, I would recommend everyone to try the ‘Aussie life’ here. People are very open and friendly, there are a lot of great restaurants, and you’ll get to experience both city life and the beautiful nature and beaches surrounding the city. I also loved exploring the areas nearby, which offers everything from white sandy beaches and Australian wild-life to wine-regions, hiking in national parks and mountains, and seeing the capital, Canberra. Additionally, it has been a great opportunity to travel through the different states in Australia, which has given me very unique experiences to take home.
