Translations of Danish Driving Licence

If you do not have an International driving licence, it is highly recommended to get an official translation of your Danish driving licence to accompany your physical Danish driving licence when you are driving in Australia and/or New Zealand.

To obtain an official translation through an accredited translator you can contact

NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia) or

NZSTA (New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters).

In most Australian States/Territories you can drive on your foreign driving licence as long as you carry an official translation.

Please see the relevant State/Territory for their requirements.

Unofficial translation of your Danish driving licence

The Danish Embassy or Consulate can assist you with an ‘unofficial’ translation of your Danish driver’s licence. A handling fee applies. See The Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of fees.

NOTE: It is your responsibility to ensure that the relevant authority accepts your translation. ie: Car hire company etc.
