Convert a Danish to an Australian driving Licence

If you no longer have habitual residence in Denmark, you should apply for a driving licence in Australia in the State/Territory that you are residing in. Most states are able to convert upon application. The Danish Road Safety and Transport Agency (Færdselsstyrelsen) can issue a declaration to confirm that you hold a valid Danish driving licence (“erklæring om førerret”). The declaration can be obtained by sending a request in writing to Færdselsstyrelsen with your name and contact details via email: [email protected] which can be taken with you to the local authority.

If needed, the Mission can assist you with contacting the Danish Road Safety and Transport Agency (Færdselsstyrelsen) in order to request a declaration of your driving rights, however the request will not be handled any faster. A handling fee applies. See The Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of fees.

Please be aware that the Danish Road Safety and Transport Agency will forward the declaration to you directly.
