Lost certificate of nationality

Persons who have acquired Danish nationality by declaration or by law (naturalisation) will have received a certificate of nationality in connection with the declaration or the naturalisation.

If a person has already once had a certificate of Danish nationality issued, irrespective of whether Danish nationality was acquired automatically, by declaration or by law (naturalisation), no new certificate of nationality can be issued.

The Ministry of Immigration and Integration may instead issue a bevisbekræftelse (confirmation of issuance of certificate). This is an official confirmation that a certificate of nationality has previously been issued to the person concerned. A request for bevisbekræftelse of Danish nationality should be submitted to the Ministry of Immigration and Integration by completing and forwarding an application form (can be found here – only in  Danish) requesting confirmation of  previously issued nationality certificate (similar to an extract).
