Danish Birth Certificate

A copy of a Danish birth certificate cannot be obtained through a Danish diplomatic representation.

If you require a copy of a Danish birth certificate you must contact either the church in Denmark where your birth was registered or the parish to which your last residential address in Denmark belonged. You can find contact details for Danish Churches on the website www.sogn.dk

If you do not know where your birth was registered or which parish your last residential address belonged to, then you must contact the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs in Denmark. Make sure to include all the information you have about your birth.

The copy of your birth certificate will not be mailed directly to you. You must nominate a Danish embassy, consulate or a Danish church from which you can collect it. Upon collection you must present photo ID (passport or driver license). The list of Danish representations in Oceania is here.

Contact details of the Danish Church in Australia can be found on the website for The Danish Church in Australia

Please be aware that if you wish to collect your birth certificate from a Danish representation it will incur a fee. Fee can be viewed on The Ministry of Foreign Affairs list of fees.
