Waste Management Expert


The Trade Council of Denmark in Sydney (TC) is looking for a Waste Management Expert. The Expert will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a sales alliance consisting of 5-10 Danish companies with complementary technical products/services focused on the fast developing waste and renewables markets in Oceania. The main target is to generate concrete business opportunities for the companies in the alliance. You will become part of a dynamic and energetic trade team consisting of 8 dedicated colleagues in Sydney’s CBD.


The position:

  • Identify gaps between commercial Danish waste management competencies and local market development trends, both politically and commercially, in Australia & New Zealand
  • Development of the Danish companies’ go-to-market, or market expansion strategy as well as an action plan for operational execution
  • With expert knowledge from the industry, the renewables expert will also hold responsibility for the operational execution of strategies, targeting public and private stakeholders at various organizational levels
  • Product training in each of the member’s value proposition will be provided in Denmark by, and at, the individual companies participating in the alliance
  • Your task will be to open doors to potential Australian end-users and introducing the Danish companies, their products and services. Tasks will also include establishment of workshops and the planning, as well as handling ofdelegation visits to Denmark and Australia
  • Pitch TC’s services on business trips to Denmark targeting potential Danish alliance members

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate:

  • Relevant technical background and preferably degree in engineering
  • 5+ years business experience from operation or administration in a utility company, or from the sector within a municipality/council
  • Has experience with circular economy, recycling and/or energy recovery from waste (bio-energy)
  • Insight into the political, administrative, financial, organizational and/or the strategic foundation under which the sector operates
  • A strong commercial, entrepreneurial, and innovative personality
  • In-depth knowledge from the waste management sector, including recycling and Circular economy is an advantage
  • Sound network and strong connections in the Australian or New Zealand Waste and/or Renewables sector
  • Great social and communications skills to sell the Trade Council’s services to Danish companies as well as act as lead generator on behalf of the companies.
  • Further qualifications include an outgoing personality, an international outlook as well as the willingness and ability to travel.
